Phaneuf
and Orr By Darryl Houston Smith
Robert Gordon Orr
is the greatest hockey player of all time. No question. But, is an Orr-like season really out of the reach of Dion Phaneuf?
If and its a big if the big guy can stay out of the box he can challenge for a Norris.
Without
a doubt Phaneuf’s career ceiling would be something like Orr’s 6th season. Which would be impossible for most
modern defensemen to reach yet is far from Orr’s peak.
This is Orr’s 6th year….
GP G A Pts
PIM 1971-72 Bruins NHL 76 37 80 117 106
But can you guess which season below belongs
to Orr? The answer is....
GP G A Pts PIM Player
A 3rd NHL 67 21 43 64 133
Player B 2nd NHL 79 17 33 50 98
The 3rd year season
belongs to Bobby Orr and the 2nd year season belongs to Phaneuf. So as you see its not so far fetched.
